A group of members met during the 2017 Forum in Guatemala and decided to form a working group. The group began by mapping movement into, out of and through their countries, including movement between member countries. They decided to implement and advocate for a 'corridor-based' approach to their projects where interventions for children at source, transit and destination locations are prioritised to ensure prevention as well as response. The group then formed regional sub-groups of members in Africa, the Central American corridor and the Middle East to Europe corridor. Members based in South America (Colombia) and Asia (Nepal) are also represented in the group. During 2018 and 2019 the group agreed a definition of children on the move and launched their first campaign Childhood on the Move to promote the concept and their work. They also defined their first work plan, issued three public advocacy statements in response to U.S. migration policy, and designed three projects.
